We have put a map of the Shrine after the text.
Welcome to the Shrine of Divine Mercy at Łagiewniki, Kraków, global headquarters for the worship of the Divine Mercy and destination for pilgrims from all over the world. God chose this place as a site for His revelations and to perform His miracles. Łagiewniki does not have a very long history as a recognised shrine, nonetheless it is a very important place on the religious map of the world. It’s ranked in the top thirty centres of worship in the data for all the world’s religions.
Łagiewniki is a place chosen by God Himself. It is the place where He left the entire spiritual legacy He had bequeathed to Sister Faustina Kowalska after her death, making it the source from which the message of Mercy Jesus entrusted her with is spreading throughout the world. “Yet even though time and the entire world may be considered God’s ‘temple,’ He has chosen certain times and places to enable people to experience His presence and His grace in a special way,” said St. John Paul II and added that the Łagiewniki Shrine was such a place.
This Shrine is also a place of revelation. Sister Faustina had over 280 revelations here. Here every nook and cranny, even as prosaic as her monastic cell, the corridor, the porter’s lodge, or the garden, recall her meetings with Jesus, with Our Lady, the Angels and Saints, or the Souls in Purgatory. As soon as you pass through the entrance gate, you will learn that when Sister Faustina was on duty in the porter’s lodge, she was attended by an Angel to protect her, and one day Jesus came to her in the guise of a poor young man to ask for a hot meal.
Łagiewniki is a place where many miracles have occurred, which people have prayed for here, putting all their trust in the Divine Mercy and praying through the intercession of St. Faustina. Tens of thousands of votive offerings and testimonials which are sent to the Łagiewniki convent every year show this, so we might say that God’s words to Moses, “Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground,” could apply to the Łagiewniki Shrine, too.
And finally, Łagiewniki is the destination for millions of pilgrims from all over the world. Łagiewniki is ranked one of the top places of pilgrimage worldwide in terms of the number of countries ‒ about 90 to 100 and all the continents ‒ from which it receives visitors every year. In addition, every week millions of pilgrims visit our website, watch us on TV, listen to our radio broadcasts, or follow us on the internet.
