Thoughts from the “Diary” of Saint Faustina
Friday 20 March 2026
Humility, sin, contrition, sacrament of reconciliation
I suddenly realised that God was very offended by someone
close to my heart. My soul was riven with pain at the sight; I cast myself down
into the dust before the Lord and begged for mercy. For two hours, I put up an
obstacle to the sin by tears, prayer, and flagellation, and I learned that
Divine mercy had embraced that poor soul. O, how much a single sin costs (Diary
685).
